Finally a book saleMarch 14th, 2006 at 11:57 pmAmazon.com did some maintenance updates so very few of the book sellers made any sales over the weekend. I was not one of the lucky few who had some sales, but it looks like things are back to normal. I finally sold a book yesterday and mailed it out today for $1.97 postage. I also sold one today but didn't mail it yet. A deposit of $10.93 was made to my account for last week's sales. Plus and minusFebruary 24th, 2006 at 05:49 pmSold one book postage was $2.07. Went to a library sale yesterday spent $25 on books. Over half were duds. I should make more back then I spent, but this time it won't be much. I got to the sale late because I had to go to a funeral, so the books had been really picked over. I'll make sure to get there on time, or not go next time. A deposit of $16.34 was made by to my account from Amazon. To the root of the problemFebruary 14th, 2006 at 06:18 amI am 4 weeks past due for a dye job, but I refused to buy the brand I get until it went on sale. Finally it was on sale at CVS for 7.99 I had a $2 off coupon. I don't know if it was worse to watch the roots grow, or see the little grey hairs popping up. I will get an extra one later this week so I have it for the next time I need it instead of having to wait for a sale. I got a $10 rebate check in today's mail. Sent out two books I sold for a total of $4.14 postage. Challenge updateFebruary 11th, 2006 at 07:40 pm$24.10 was deposited into my account from book sales. Cutting Back To Save MoneyJanuary 27th, 2006 at 08:00 amI had 4 coupons for 1 free bottle of Suave shampoo. Each bottle was $.96 for a total of 3.8$3.84. I usually smoke two packs of cigarettes a day. My Dr. told me if I couldn't quit right now at least cut down. I have cut down to a pack and a half a day with no great difficulty which saved me $20. this week. Since this would have been money spent if I didn't cut down I'm adding it to my total. Amazon PaymentJanuary 26th, 2006 at 08:00 amRecieved payment of $17.16 from Amazon.com. SurveyJanuary 23rd, 2006 at 08:00 amGot a $2.00 check in mail from a pharmacy co for a survey or something. Amazon DepositJanuary 19th, 2006 at 08:00 amAmazon.com deposit $17.15. My Children's BookJanuary 19th, 2006 at 08:00 amI had started writing a childrens book back in August. Five months, and 15 revisions later I am ready to start sending it out to try to get it published. I have sent it to two publishers and have a third ready to send out next time I go to post office. I have had free lance news articles published locally, and one of my poems was published in a national magazine years ago, but this is a giant leap for me. I'm hoping for the best, but will share the good (publication) with the bad (rejection). It will take months to hear back from anyone. I'll continue to send out one or two copies a month to other publishers. Wasn't gonna include this in Challange but my updates are starting to bore me. I hope the suspense of the outcome will make the Challange more intresting. Some More SalesJanuary 17th, 2006 at 08:00 amSold 3 books over weekend, mailed today $7.17 postage. Another Book SaleJanuary 13th, 2006 at 08:00 amSold a book, spent $1.59 on postage. More Book SalesJanuary 12th, 2006 at 08:00 amSold 3 more books last nite. Mailed them today postage $6.21. At this rate I'm gonna run out of books before there are any yard sales to buy new ones at. Only 67 days left till spring. Some say that robins are the first sign of spring, but my favorite sign is a yard sale sign. Where I'll Get My BooksJanuary 12th, 2006 at 08:00 amI've been selling off my old books since Sept, but for the challenge I plan to use the rest of the money I make to buy used books at yard sales and library sales to resell. I only have a few left. The books that sell for the most are text books and reference types, so I'll keep my eye out for those when I buy. I sold one text book for $37 and had brought it at a library sale for $1.00. Most of the books sold between $3-$6. The most I'll pay for a book is $1.00 unless it's something I really want to read. The best part is I get to read all I want. Added Money To TotalJanuary 11th, 2006 at 08:00 amMoney from last weeks book sales deposited in account. Beginning ChallengeDecember 31st, 2005 at 08:00 amHappy New Years to everyone. I found this site back in Sept of 2005. Besides the freebies, this forum is my fav. I had never heard of half.com before coming here. I listed some of my old books there and made $217 in 2005. I have a few books left there and I will start 2006 with the left overs. I have also placed some of them on Amazon.com. I'll use the $20 start up for postage. My plan is to purchase books at flea markets, book sales ect. to continue the challange, and build up a nice little side business. I read a lot, so an added bonus is getting to read the books before I selll them. I also have started to do a few surveys here and there. I will add any money from these to my challange. Surveys for merchandise will just be a bonus. I plan to use profits to build inventory and anything left at end of year will go towards a getaway. Good luck to all my fellow challengers. |
